The Gentlemen is a new action/comedy series streaming on Netflix. It is a Guy Ritchie production. He is responsible for many successful movies, including Covenant In 2023 starting Jake Gyllenhaal, Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Man from U.N.C.L.E, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, and the movie The Gentlemen, on which this show is based.

The show is about what happens when British aristocrats get mixed up with the underworld crime syndicates. The conflict results in a power struggle that becomes explosive, dangerous, edgy, and comical
in parts. The show stars Theo James as Horniman, the 10th Duke of Halstead and former United Nations peacekeeping officer; Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass, head of the Bobby Glass crime family; Daniel Ings as Lord Frederick aka Freddy Horniman, the cocaine and gambling-addicted older brother of Eddie.

The story starts with the aging father, Archibald Horniman, the 9th Duke of Halstead, dying and leaving his estate to his family and loyal employees. Most of the estate goes to the young brother Eddie and the Royal title of Duke. Freddy is angry and rants about his right to Inherit the fortune. We find out that Freddy owes Tommy Dixon, a Scouse drug dealer, 8 million. He was hoping for the inheritance to clear the debt. Tommy Dixon has threatened to kill Freddy if he can’t pay. Freddy pleads with Eddie to help raise the funds to pay off the debt. Eddie finds some money in the family safe and thinks of selling the manor or artwork to make up the difference. A business associate, Susie Glass, of his dad’s, tells him that he can’t sell the manor because of their financial arrangement with his father as they are growing a large cannabis farm beneath the estate. However, she would help him raise the money and renegotiate the terms of the debt with Tommy Dixon.

Meanwhile, Freddy takes the 4 million in the safe and goes gambling with those funds with Sticky Pete, a deceptive bookmaker. Eddie gets upset and has words with Sticky Pete. Susie Glass tells Eddie not to worry about it. She will also resolve an issue with Sticky Pete. Susie sends her associates to beat up Sticky Pete and retrieve the money. Susie successfully gets Tommy Dixon to drop his debt to 4 million if Freddy apologizes, and he does a degrading video for Tommy. However, Freddy, after agreeing to do the video, gets upset with Tommy’s abuse of him. Freddy gets a gun and shoots Tommy dead. The story gets crazier and crazier from here. The story scenes go from moments of laughter to outrageous drama.

This show is an attention grabber and will be highly entertaining. It is one to add to your list.
