What can I tell you about Actor Miles Teller? He has appeared in numerous feature films with performances in Maverick, Whiplash, The Spectacular Now, War Dogs, and others; his roles have resulted in many awards and much praise. Additionally, he is a diehard Philadelphia Phillies fan and celebrated with other fans before one of the playoff games this year. Miles danced to the music Kenny Loggins’s song “Danger zone” with the team Mascot to get fans charged up.

He is 35 years old and married. He is the son of a real estate agent and nuclear engineer. His grandparents are of Jewish descent. He grew up in his early years in Pennsylvania and Delaware, and then his family moved to Citrus County, Florida. He attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts and received BFA in 2009. Besides acting, he plays the alto saxophone, drums, piano, and guitar.

War Dogs: In this movie, Miles Teller plays David Packouz, an out-of-luck salesman trying to make living selling bedsheets to retirement homes while supporting his family. His wife, Iz, is pregnant with their first child. He runs into Efraim Diveroli, played by Johnathan Hill, who owns a small-order military company AEY. David and Iz are opposed to war. However, Efrain tells David that he only sells to Israel for defense. David reluctantly accepts the job. However, it becomes more than what he bargained for when he gets involved in selling weapons with blocked Arms Dealer Henry Girand, played by Brad Cooper, and escapades that lead them personally buying and delivering arms to conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. This film provides a light comedy-drama with action scenes.

The Spectacular Now: This movie deals with real-life issues, such as relationships in all forms and growing up and handling difficulties. Sutter Kelly, played by Miles Teller, has spent much of his senior year in high school partying and getting drunk. There are issues in his life that need answered such as will he complete high school as his grades drop? He experiences lose of a relationship, his depression, drunkenness, his college prep and his future career, his parent’s divorce and who his dad was, and who he is to become? Sutter starts the movie by trying to write a college application supplement with a statement of what his most significant hardship was he stated it was a recent breakup with his ex-girlfriend. Then he sneaks into a bar, gets drunk, and wakes up in the front yard of Amiee Finicky, played by Shailene Woodley. Sutter gets intrigued by Amiee and follows her on her mother’s paper route. He learns she is intelligent and funny and likes sci-fiction and comics. Sutter asks her to tutor him in his classes and to go to a party with him. He ends up asking her to prom, and friends question his intentions with her and tell him not to hurt her. The story goes on as they learn what it is like growing up.

Whiplash: This is an intense drama written and directed by Damien Chazelle. Teller plays Andrew Neiman, a highly talented first-year jazz drummer at the prestigious Shaffer Conservatory of music in New York City. If you were going to be a great musician, this was the place to be. He dreamed of being a musician like Buddy Rich.

Terrence Fletcher, played by J.K. Simmons, recruits Andrew to play Shaffer Conservatory Studio Band, the showcase orchestra of the school. Terrence, the conductor, and bandleader, dreams of training a legendary musician. He is abusive to Andrew. He demeans and screams at him, having him play without sheet music, criticizing his skills, having him play till his fingers bleed and play injured, and then kicking him out of the Studio Band when questioned. Another one of Terrence’s other students committed suicide because he couldn’t take the pressure. Andrew was interviewed by the school administration about Terrance’s behavior resulted in Terrence getting fired from the Shaffer Conservatory. Later, at a Jazz Bar, Terrence invites Andrew to perform at the JVC Jazz band festival. Once again, Terrence tries to demean Andrew, but Andrew steals the show from him. Terrance finally acknowledges Andrew as a superb performer.

Top Gun-Maverick: This is a sequel to the highly successful 1986 original Top Gun Movie that starred Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, and Kelly McGillis. In this movie, Tom Cruise returns to play Navy Captain Pete Mitchel, as a test pilot returning to the Top Gun Academy. His mission is to train the best of the best navy pilots for a suicide mission to take out a uranium enrichment plant. Two recruits are Jake “Hangman” Seresin, who is cocky and arrogant, played by Glen Powell, and the other Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, who is Goose’s son, Miles Teller plays. Rooster has a chip on his shoulder and doesn’t like Maverick. He feels he is responsible for his dad’s death. Additionally, Maverick interfered with some possible Navy assignments and which stunted his career growth. Also, Rooster doesn’t get along with Hangman, who he sees as cavalier, and Hangman sees Rooster as too cautious. These characters make this movie’s action scenes over the top and a winner for fans of the story.
